Lee is married and has two daughters that attend San Leandro High School. He is a longtime resident, entrepreneur, community advocate, public servant, and small business owner in San Leandro. Lee has a B.S degree in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of San Francisco and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Lee works as a school administrator for Oakland Unified School District and served 7 years as the union president of United Administrators Of Oakland Schools. “UAOS” Local 83.
Lee Thomas has long believed that public service extends beyond elected office. He has been deeply involved in grassroots programs that support local families and underserved communities. He founded the New Shoes for School Drive, which provides brand new shoes for San Leandro youth in need through partnerships with local donors and the SLUSD school district. Each year the program helps dozens of youth start the school year with confidence and dignity.

As a former San Leandro City Council member, Lee built a reputation for championing transparency in government, advocating for public safety, supporting local businesses, and investing in programs that directly benefit families, seniors, and youth.
While in office Lee accomplished the following:
Adopted a local ordinance to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour
Adopted the Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) on city construction projects. That ensures 30% of jobs are reserved for San Leandro residents on certain public projects.
Proposed a lobbying registration ordinance so the public could see who was trying to influence city officials.
Voted to help make San Leandro a sanctuary-city.
Passed a balanced budget every year with little to no cuts to services.
